In this post, we will be sharing some tips and resources to help NUS Students in their job and internship hunting process. This guide will be updated as we find more resources that are useful for NUS students.

This post will be updated regularly with new resources and tips, so do check back often for the latest updates!

Preface

Before we dive into the resources and tips, here are some things to note:

  1. Job Hunting is a Numbers Game: The more applications you send out, the higher your chances of getting an interview. Don’t be discouraged by rejections, keep applying!
  2. Networking is Key: Reach out to alumni, friends, and family for job opportunities. Attend career fairs and networking events to expand your network.
  3. Tailor Your Resume and Cover Letter: Make sure your resume and cover letter are tailored to the job you are applying for. Highlight relevant experiences and skills.

Brushing up your resume

Your resume is the first impression you make on a potential employer, so it’s essential to make it stand out.

Write a main resume that includes all your experiences and skills. This will be your master resume that you can refer to when tailoring your resume for specific job applications. It can span multiple pages and include all your experiences, skills, and achievements.

When applying for a job, refer to your master resume and select the most relevant experiences and skills to include in your tailored resume.

Asking for Referrals

Do not be afraid to ask for referrals from friends, family, alumni, or even strangers who work in the company on Linkedin. Referrals can significantly increase your chances of getting an interview.

If you are afraid of asking for referrals, employees in the company might even make posts with their referral links to get you to apply. You can simply look for them through searching on Linkedin or other job related platforms.
